? 11. ?Rise of the Empire? ? As terrorist attacks increase, the house populations begin to get edgy. Large areas of commerce are targeted by the as of yet unknown enemy. Marcus Scarman and Tomoko Yamaguchi buy an apartment together in downtown Manhattan and both witness an attack on the five stars Hotel Regal. Marcus and several others bravely rescue President Logan, who was believed to be the target of the terrorist attack. At the beginning of year 827 A.S, a force claiming to be the ?Bretonian Empire? sieges Freeport 4 in the Magellan Sector and claims responsibility for the terrorist attacks. Shortly after, the Bretonian members of parliament are imprisoned on BPI Newgate and contact with House Bretonia is completely cut off.
? 12. ?The Imperial Conflict, Part 1? ? Tensions rise as Bretonian Armed Forces vessels are seen across the borders of Bretonia taking up defensive positions. Marcus Scarman and Umbra wing are assigned to the LNS Avalanche under the command of newly appointed Military General Michael Cromwell. When the Bretonain Empire begins an unprovoked bombardment of planet Curacao in the Cortez system, Marcus? wing teams up with Kusari forces to try and stop the onslaught. They fail however and the planet is rendered uninhabitable. War is declared on the Bretonian Empire and mobilized defensive forces throughout Sirius begin a counter-strike against the rogue house. It is discovered that a madman calling himself Krazier has seized control of the Bretonian government and has plans for his own inter-galactic rule. The LNS Avalanche leads an invasion force into the Manchester system and successfully rescues the official Bretonian members of parliament. The Manchester system is garrisoned and the Allies prepare for their attack on New London.
? 13. ?The Imperial Conflict, Part 2? ? As the attack on the New London system ensues, Marcus Scarman is thrown into battle against lethal starship designs he has never encountered before. With the death of his Wing Commander towards the end of the battle for the Manchester system, Marcus is appointed WC of Umbra and leads them bravely into New London. Once the system is secured and the IDF (Imperial Defense Forces) are either destroyed or forced to retreat, the assault on planet New London begins. Marcus is assigned the temporary rank of Field Commander and leads an attack force down to the planet. As Allied forces descend on the New London capital, Scarecrow?s team is assigned to take the Canary Wharf Tower, where the false Emperor Krazier is supposed to be hiding. During the attack, Marcus makes a command decision which will come back to haunt him in his later life. Krazier is not found in the Canary Wharf building, but elsewhere within the city the Queen is saved and the Imperial forces are broken.
? 14. ?The Imperial Conflict, Part 3? ? With the capital city of New London mostly secure, Field Commander Scarman leads an attack on the hidden chemical production facilities located within the surrounding mountainous region. His assaults are successful, but as the final chemical plan is secured, Scarecrow is incapacitated by a Sarin ? Tularemia infection grenade and a ruptured tank of SENTOX nerve gas; the weapon used in the numerous Imperial terrorist attacks across the spiral arm. He is rushed to a priority DWB medical centre where he undergoes treatment for his survival. Meanwhile, DWB Doctor Andrew Antonaides searches for his lost love amongst the sporadic fighting in New London central and the Allied fleets advance their counter-attack into the Dublin system where Emperor Krazier is said to have retreated. To their surprise, they are aided by the Red Skull Legion, a wing of Corsairs, a known pirate faction within the Bretonian and Omega systems.
? 15. ?Fall of the False Emperor? ? As the Liberty battleships Avalanche and Pearl Harbour lead the attack on the Imperial forces in the Dublin system, Emperor Krazier is located on a small outpost on the fringes of Bretonian space. Arranmore Station was once a pirate base belonging to the Bretonian pirate group known as the Mollies. The Bretonian Empire seized the base however as an emergency HQ and fall-back point. Freedom Fighter Fleet Admiral Cerun leads an attack on Arranmore Station along Major Victoria ?Edge? Wade and several other hand-picked elite marines. Arranmore is destroyed as one doomed Bretonian ship plows uncontrolled into it and Emperor Krazier is captured, thus ending the Imperial Conflict. Krazier?s army commander, General Centura, escapes with a small portion of the Imperial fleet and disappears into the depths of unchartered space. This story demonstrates the first use of the S/RV Anomaly class scout-ship with FF Admiral Cerun?s LNS Swift.
? 16. ?Lucas Anderson? ? As Marcus Scarman recovers from his wounds inflicted in the imperial conflict, he meets fellow patient Lucas Anderson. Anderson is ex-Navy and, as it turns out, is a wanted man. He is standing on trial for several crimes against the state. Marcus discovers that Anderson was in fact searching for answers to the disappearance of his brother, Vern Anderson. Marcus, Tomoko, Lucas and Nurse Faye Edmonds embark on a mission to uncover the possible conspiracy behind the disappearance of Vern Anderson and to absolve Lucas? name.
? 17. ?Wormhole? (Short story) ? Several months after the end of the Imperial Conflict, Fleet Admiral Cerun of the Freedom Fighters disappears as he takes his ship, the LNS Swift into an anomalous wormhole discovered within the secretive Alaska system. Robert Merlow is appointed Fleet Admiral.
? 18. ?A Cause for Celebration? ? At the dawn of the year 828 A.S, Marcus Scarman and Tomoko Yamaguchi are married at the San Gabriel Cathedral on Los Angeles. Towards the end of the story, Robert Merlow gives a speech, commending Scarecrow?s bravery and devotion to his nation, indicating that if he should show such commitment to his marriage, Tomoko surely would be a lucky woman. He also surprises them all by promoting Marcus to the rank of Fleet Captain.
? 19. ?The Admiral Graf Spee? ? Fleet Captain Scarman, now commanding the LNS Avalanche, is asked for help by the Rheinland government. Marcus and Lucas, who has is now a fighter pilot for the Freedom Fighters, comply and travel to Rheinland. Marcus discovers that Klaus Reinhardt, the man who helped him try to rescue his father, was behind the call for help. Reinhardt, although being a freelance mercenary, was once a decorated member of the Rheinland Military and fought in the Inter-House war of the seven-eighties. Marcus learns that Reinhardt was the skipper of the Rheinland flagship during that time, the RNC Tirpitz. He also learns that Reinhardt?s ex first officer, Max Steiner, never really got over the fact that Rheinland called a truce with Liberty, and has recently stolen a brand new Rheinland battleship. Scarman and Reinhardt then go on a mission to hunt down the Admiral Graf Spee, the ship Steiner named after one of the legendary German WWII naval ships of old Earth.
? 20. ?The Massacre of Fleet Five? (Short story) ? A Kusari battle group whilst out on patrol in deep space is attacked and wiped out by an unknown aggressor. One ship survives and limps back to Kyushu where her petrified crew describes ships of unimaginable power. Emperor Yoshi Tadeka begins a closed document on this first encounter, secretly marking any contact with the aggressive aliens that crop up over Sirius.
